Environments and Mixermaps for LOGIC and CUBASE
The SETUP Disk offers a whole string of Environments and Mixer Pages for LOGIC and CUBASE that allow
you to edit your CS2x with the use of faders (see Appendix, FILE LIST). The pages are suited to Perfor-
mance modification as well as the creation of song setups (see chapter “Essentials for Song Production”).
First a quick overview of all the pages:
Performer: Easy Edit Page for Modifying Performances (files: “SetIni” + “SetTech”)
Contains the following parameter groups:
• Performance Volume and Effect Sends
• Portamento Switch + Control
• Faders for the 8 knobs
• Volume Layer 1 - 4
• 2-Band EQ for Layers 1 - 4
The highlight of this page is the Layer EQ, as this can’t be programmed at the keyboard!
The Snapshot “Reset” (CUBASE), or playback of the “Performer Reset” sequence (LOGIC), generates a
standard setting that does not usually correspond to the actual Performance however. Therefore it is best to
avoid using RESET to reset the faders if the current Performance will only have a few parameters modified.
On the other hand, it makes sense to start with a RESET when creating a new
Performance Remix
, as the
fader positions always correspond to the CS2x parameter settings here.
X-PERIMENT
Performances Pre1 - 001 to 011 (with arpeggio) are perfectly suited to testing the PERFORMER with running Arpeggia-
tor and activated HOLD function. Take a listen to each layer individually to start with (Layer Volume/Mute) to get a better
insight into the sound’s components. Program each layer’s EQ to taste. Create a new mix using with the layer volumes.
Experiment with the knob parameters and Effect Sends.
Combine your fader settings with the parameter settings at the machine. For instance, try different effect or arpeggio
types. Store the result as a new Performance (STORE).
Part EQ for Multi Parts 5 - 16 in Performance-Mode (files: “SetIni” and “SetTech”)
The EQ for Layers and Parts were organised into separate pages. The Layer EQs are an integral part of the
Performance and are stored with it. The Part EQs however belong to the song setup and are saved as Sys-
Ex data or fader events in the song itself.
XG Part EQ for Multi Parts 1 - 16 in Multi-Mode (file: “SetXG”)
A very effective compliment to existing XG Mixers that don’t contain the EQ parameters.
Can also be used for MU90E, MU100R, MU128, SW1000XG.
