SCENE — Greater Operating Ease

Four SC E NE buttons make operating the r

eceiver e asier

than ever. Pressing a SC E NE button automatic ally turns

the power on and launches a number of op erati ons that

initiate play of the sourc e controlled by that button.

Many S C E N E sett ings are available, such as Dock

Listening, DVD Viewing, Ra dio Listening and G ame

Playing (with 18 preset SCENE templates). Browsing and

sele cting the settings is quickly a ccomplished by

rotating the Input knob and watching the on-screen

display. When a Yamaha DVD or C D player with S C ENE

comp atibility is connected to the Remote O ut ja ck, it

can b e operated via the re c eiver’s SC E N E functions.

Improved YPAO Sound Optimization

The RX-V663BL has an improved YPA O system that

automatic al ly selects the crucial fre quency b ands for

the listening room, and a djusts the level of the selected

bands to cre ate a cohesive sound field in the room.

In a d dition, the YPA O Setup Menu app e ars when the

YPA O mic is plugg e d in, so you c an just run it using the

system menu showi ng in the OSD wit hout refering to the

owner's manual .

Independent Operation of Zone 2

You can enjoy sound in a se p arate room (Zone 2)

bec ause the RX-V663BL provid es Zone 2 audio

output. Furthermore, Zone 2 power amplifier

assignability and sp eaker terminals me an that Zone 2

can b e fully ind epend ent with its own 2-channel

power, while you still enjoy 5.1-channel sound in the

main room.

Surround Realism

Fine-Tuned CINEMA DSP and Adaptive DSP Level

amaha’s much-praised CIN EMA DSP programs have

been fine-tuned for even better sound with the latest

generation CIN EMA DSP technology* . As a result, the

sourc e and the sound field are in closer harmony,

providing a delightful new CIN EMA DSP exp erience.

When volume is low, CINEMA DSP effe cts may be

difficult to hear. Ad a pt ive DSP Level overcomes this

problem by eval uating the difference b etwe en the

vol ume level and a reference level, and a djusting the

DSP level to ensure optimum effe ctiveness—that is, the

best possible sound.

(*Note: CINEMA DSP programs are not compatible with Dolby TrueHD, Dolby

Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.)

Improved Compressed Music Enhancer

Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer is a popular

feature that restores t he sound of the original music from

digitally compressed formats such as MP3. This receiver

offers an upgraded version that processes multi-channel

signals with a DSP algorithm, so all channels (rather than

just two) are enhance d. This provides more ac curate

reproduction and a more expansive sound.

Adaptive DRC

Ada ptive DR C (Dynamic Range Control) is a new volume

control technology that is effective for low-volume

li steni ng, such as at night or with headphones. It applies

DRC processing to eliminate the volume differences

between l oud commercials and ordinary programming

and to take into a c count our e ars’ loss of sensitivity as

volume decreases.
